2020 Senior Bowl WR Preview: Best group we’ve seen in Mobile?
Bryan Edwards, South Carolina
Bryan Edwards has had a productive career at South Carolina, amassing over 3,000 yards in his four seasons with the Gamecocks. When looking at his 2018 tape, Edwards looks like a possession receiver who couldn’t gain a lot of separation. In 2019, Edwards looked more twitched up as a receiver, showing fluidity in and out of breaks. He also is good at the line of scrimmage, using hand swipes to get off press coverage and is good through contact.
So what does he need to do in Mobile? Edwards needs to show that he is still growing as a route runner and has the potential to be more than a possession receiver.
K.J. Hill, Ohio State
K.J. Hill is another slot receiver making the journey to Mobile for the Senior Bowl. Hill is a fluid athlete who can create separation with crisp breaks at the top of his stem, on both in and out-breaking routes, and also has very good hands. He also can make things happen after the catch with sudden moves in space.
One thing he needs to do in Mobile for the week is to work well against press coverage. He isn’t the biggest receiver, so showing some physicality will be key for him.
