Round 3, No. 88 Overall: Devin Duvernay, WR, Texas

Up next on the needs list for the New Orleans Saints is the wide receiver position. Michael Thomas is up there with the best wide receivers in the game, and he had an incredible 149 catch season in 2019. But he can’t do it alone in this offense. Ted Ginn is getting up there in age and Tre’Quan Smith hasn’t made the jump.

The key for the Saints will be finding a receiver who can stretch the field with speed and can make plays downfield to open things up again for Thomas. That player could be Devin Duvernay out of Texas, and boy would this be a good fit.

I recently scouted Duvernay for NFL Mocks, and he has some tools the Saints would love to have in their offense. Duvernay has the speed to threaten deep and is very good in contested situations down the field, often using his hands to keep free of defenders and boxing out defenders with good strength.

The contested ability may surprise many because he’s 5-foot-11, but don’t be fooled. Duvernay is also a bowling ball after the catch, working through contact with ease while also having the afterburners to fall back on. This might be one of the best fits in the entire draft.
