Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa announces that he will enter the 2020 NFL draft class.

As you undoubtedly know by now, former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa announced on Monday that he will skip his final season and enter the 2020 NFL Draft. This has been expected to be the case for a long time, but his late-season hip injury threw a wrench into everything. Tua had to take his time and decide what was best for his future. In the end, I think he made the right decision by declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft.

Now, we will speculate where Tua will land. When the hip injury first happened, many expected Tua to fall far down the draft board, with the possibility of him even falling completely out of the first round. However, Tagovailoa must be getting good feedback from NFL sources that he will still go early in the 2020 NFL Draft, or he just would have gone back to Alabama for another season.

Tagovailoa is an extremely gifted quarterback prospect who shines whenever he is on the field. Tua is a relatively mobile quarterback prospect who senses pressure well and knows how to move in the pocket. He is also a smart player who rarely makes a poor decision and has more than enough arm strength to hit any throw on the field. Tagovailoa throws a pretty deep ball and can fit the ball into tight spaces with velocity when needed.

Most importantly, Tua is an extremely accurate quarterback prospect who consistently puts the ball exactly where it needs to be. He shows tremendous accuracy to all levels of the field and does a great job of putting touch on his passes when it is needed. Tagovailoa also leads his receivers extremely well, allowing them to catch the ball in stride and create after the catch.

Simply put, Tagovailoa is a fantastic quarterback prospect who undoubtedly has a bright future at the next level. The only concern here is the durability issue. Will Tua’s hip be a long-term concern or will he be cleared and ready to go for the 2020 season?

In my opinion, him declaring for the draft is a good sign. Tua is likely getting good reports from his doctors and strong feedback from NFL teams. He is a top-tier 2020 NFL draft prospect who will likely still go in the top ten.

The teams holding picks 5-7 in the draft stand out as the most likely fits for Tagovailoa. The Miami Dolphins pick five, the Los Angeles Chargers hold the sixth selection and the Carolina Panthers have the seventh pick. I have a hard time believing that Tua will slip beyond those three teams. It is also possible that these three teams look to trade up beyond five to secure Tua as their new franchise quarterback.

Make no mistake about it, Tua Tagovailoa is a top-tier quarterback prospect who could come in and give life to a franchise that needs a new quarterback. This guy is the real deal and many teams should be trying hard to get him into the mix.
