Georgia running back D’Andre Swift has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. Here are five teams that should take a serious look at the Bulldogs lead rusher.

This week, Georgia running back D’Andre Swift declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. Swift helped lead the Georgia Bulldogs this past season all the way to the doorsteps of the National College Playoffs, finishing the season ranked fifth by the Associated Press.

There are a lot of things to like about Swift in the 2020 NFL Draft. For starters, he is an explosive playmaker. Swift is the type of guy who will be wrapped up by a linebacker, break free, reverse direction, make it to the other side of the field and run 20 yards down the field. He is fast, athletic, evasive and can play as a receiver.

At 5-foot-9 215 pounds (ESPN), Swift has the speed and strength to run over defenders downfield and has the breakaway speed to elude chasing defenders and force missed tackles.

Although selecting a running back early in the draft has fallen out of style in recent years, there are always going to be those exceptions that teams will target if they are a special talent. Someone like Ezekiel Elliot in 2016 or Saquon Barkley in 2018.

Draft tendencies are a lot like fashion trends: they seem like a good idea at first, become ubiquitous quickly and inspire a bunch of knock offs very quickly. Eventually, the pendulum of change swings back and we all collectively pretend that we didn’t own skinny jeans or think running backs were ever useless.

And while Swift may not have the same size and skillsets as some other generational talents like Barkley or Elliot have, it could be argued that Swift would be just as impactful for an NFL team in the right circumstances.

In this article, we’ll explore Swift’s journey to the 2020 NFL Draft, his background and his time playing for Georgia. Next up, we’ll break down the top five teams that will be taking a serious look at Swift in the upcoming draft. We’ll break down why these particular NFL teams are the best place for Swift to be drafted and how Swifts’ introduction could elevate the team’s offensive fortunes for years to come.
