Georgia Bulldogs running back D’Andre Swift has announced that he will enter the 2020 NFL Draft.

The NFL Draft news keeps coming on the first Friday in January. Georgia Bulldogs running back D’Andre Swift has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft, as he announced on Twitter today.

Swift is joining a very good group of Georgia running backs that are already in the NFL. Todd Gurley has been a force for the Rams throughout his career, and the backs that came before Swift, Cleveland’s Nick Chubb and New England’s Sony Michel, have also had good careers so far.

Swift put together a very good college career for the Bulldogs. In his freshman season, he averaged 7.6 yards per carry and gained 618 yards on the ground, and that was with Chubb and Michel in the building. As a sophomore, he put together his first 1,000-yard season and 10 touchdowns, while also racking up 297 yards and three touchdowns as a receiver.

As a junior, he had 1,218 yards on the ground and still averaged over six yards per carry. He finished with 3,551 yards from scrimmage in his career.

Swift is one of the premier running backs in this draft class, and many have him as the top player at the position. Playing the position looks really easy for him. He’s great at setting up defenders and making them miss with his elite lateral agility.

He has explosiveness off his plant foot and is super dangerous in open space, with enough speed to take any run to the house. He’s got plenty of power in his frame as well and can be a threat out of the backfield in the passing game, even lining up as a receiver in the formation.

It’s hard to project where Swift will go in the draft, but with the depth of the class, he will likely be drafted somewhere near the end of round one or early on day two. Either way, Swift has the makings of a premier back at the next level.
