A.J. Epenesa. 1. 44. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. DE. Iowa. player

The Atlanta Falcons have had a roller coaster of a season, as their projected draft position has been all over the place. Just a few weeks ago, the Falcons were looking at potentially getting a top-five pick, but winning four of their last six games has them now in possession for the 12th pick of this 2020 NFL mock draft.

So with their first-round pick, I have the Atlanta Falcons being fortunate enough to land Iowa standout defensive end, A.J. Epenesa.

Epenesa has a been a force for the Hawkeyes in his three years with the program, totaling 24 sacks and 34.5 tackles for loss in his career. He has unreal length that he pairs with active hands and can beat you with power and surprising finesse for a player of his size.

Atlanta has had major issues getting after quarterbacks in 2019, so adding talent off the edge should be their top priority in the 2020 NFL draft.

However, if the Falcons continue on this hot streak, they may mess around and take themselves out of the running for Epenesa by the time the season is over but right now he still sits in a getable position for them. This is one of the biggest no-brainers of the draft in terms of fit, need and value.
