Indianapolis Colts 7-round 2020 Mock Draft: Justin Herbert comes to town
Round 1, No. 14 Overall: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
The beginning of a new era at quarterback starts with the Indianapolis Colts selecting Justin Herbert in the first round. While Jacoby Brissett has had his moments as a serviceable starting quarterback, but his inconsistencies make him hard to trust as a true difference-maker for the Colts.
That’s where Herbert comes in. Herbert has plenty of potential as a quarterback at the next level. He possesses a great arm for the position and can push the ball down the field. When things are on for Herbert, he’s tough to stop. He can be accurate to all levels of the field and has gotten better dropping the ball in the bucket. Herbert can also make some impressive throws on the run and make plays with his legs.
The issues with Herbert right now are inconsistency and bad turnovers. Herbert can be completely off sometimes and miss throws everywhere. That inconsistency scares some analysts right now.
Luckily, Herbert steps into a great position with the Colts. Brissett is under contract through 2020 so Herbert can develop at his own pace and become the starter in 2021 at the worst while head coach Frank Reich works with him and tailors the offense to his strengths.
