Cleveland Browns

This is a landing spot that would make the most sense for both Jones and Cleveland in the 2020 NFL Draft. Currently, Cleveland is slated to select somewhere in the middle of round one, however, I do not think Jones will be drafted that high. Instead, Cleveland could opt to take Jones with their second-round pick and address other needs in the first.

After showing some promise in 2018, the Browns gave former second overall pick Greg Robinson a one-year prove-it deal. So far this season, Robinson has not played up to par. Not only has he been dealing with a concussion, but Robinson also stated back in October that he had been essentially benched. In addition to Robinson, right tackle and former Pittsburgh Steeler swing-tackle Chris Hubbard hasn’t played up to his contract either. Despite starting every game last season, Hubbard has also been dealing with injuries this season on top of poor play.

While it’s likely that Robinson will not be back with the Browns next year, Hubbard signed a five year, thirty-seven million dollar contract in 2018 that could keep him in town for a while. Depending on how they view Hubbard, the Browns still could move on from him, however, I still see him as their long-term answer at right tackle. Having said that, the Browns would do well to sure up their left tackle position this offseason.

The Browns already have a pretty good interior group of linemen with Joel Bitonio, JC Tretter and Wyatt Teller. With that foundation in place as well as a pretty good coaching staff, Jones could come in right away and see success. Jones should be a top target for the Browns in the 2020 NFL Draft.
