Defensive Tackle. Derrick Brown. player. 44. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Auburn. 8

Talk about a talented defense that has underperformed this year, the Atlanta Falcons are definitely in that conversation. While they haven’t been a dominant force in recent years, they have shown a ton of promise that they just have failed to live up to. Whether it is injuries or just wildly inconsistent play, the talented players on that unit are not coming together to produce at a consistently high level.

I’m sure the Falcons would have wanted Okudah to fall another spot, given how their secondary has looked in 2019. But here Atlanta snags a guy that can help their defense in many ways. Derrick Brown from Auburn is the best defensive tackle in the 2020 NFL Draft and is an absolute force that is difficult to stop.

Again, I talk about a perfect blend of power and speed. That is Derrick Brown. He can use his strength strike right through the line and into the backfield and has the speed and agility to evade blockers and run down ball carriers.

The thing that I like most about Brown is his jump off the snap. He is quick to react, packs a powerful punch at the line of scrimmage and quickly recognizes where the play is going and puts himself in position to make the stop. He is aggressive and cerebral and plays through the whistle.

The senior has been productive throughout his Auburn career and would be incredible on the inside of the Falcon defensive line next to Grady Jarrett. That pairing would be a nightmare for running backs going between the tackles and would be a daunting task for guards and centers to block.

The Falcons have talented players on the edge, at linebacker and in the secondary. They just need to stay healthy and contribute consistently when on the field for that Dan Quinn defense to take off. Brown would be instrumental in the run and pass game and would allow Atlanta to stop opposing offenses and win more games.
