Jeffrey Okudah. player. Pick Analysis. Ohio State. Scouting Report. Cornerback. 7. 52

It will be very interesting to see how the Jacksonville Jaguars go about the 2020 NFL Draft. Will they try their hand at selecting a new quarterback with both Gardner Minshew and Nick Foles getting benched at different points in the season. Do they pick one and stick with him and try to provide him with more weapons on offense to succeed?

Well, the Jaguars have two first-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, so they have the opportunity to address multiple spots. But why do they have two first-rounders? Because they traded Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams. So what position do they need to fill the most in my opinion? That hole left at corner by one of the best in the league.

Jeffrey Okudah is widely regarded as the top cornerback prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft. Okudah has the length and athleticism that you look for in a corner. Beyond that, he has great technique and can turn his hips and stay with any receiver in man coverage. He also has outstanding ball skills which allow him to excel in zone as well, always finding a way to jump in and make a play.

Opposing offenses often, wisely, choose not to throw in Okudah’s direction. But he and the other defensive backs for Ohio State are a big reason why they allow the fewest points per game as a defense in the nation.

Okudah has been tested with some pretty talented Big Ten receivers the past few weeks (K.J. Hamler from Penn State and Donovan Peoples-Jones and Nico Collins from Michigan), all of whom caught three of fewer passes against the Buckeyes. Okudah can lock down his side of the field, and that is something that the Jags could use right about now.

The absence of Ramsey is showing. The once-mighty Jaguars defense that was essentially a play away from a Super Bowl appearance just a few seasons ago is struggling, especially in the secondary. There is no replacing Jalen Ramsey but Jeffrey Okudah is the best bet to be able to come in and fill those shoes in the 2020 NFL Draft.
