2020 NFL Draft: Jerry Jeudy slides in this three-round NFL mock draft
Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy is considered by most to be the top wide receiver in the 2020 NFL draft class. I love Jeudy as a prospect and think that he undoubtedly has a bright future at the next level. That being said, as great as Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has been this season, I could see him jumping over Jeudy when the actual 2020 NFL Draft comes around. In this mock draft, we see that scenario play out.
Through 12 games this season, Lamb has caught 58 passes for 1,208 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is among the nation’s leaders in all receiving categories, including yards per reception. Lamb’s 20.83 yards per reception is more than any other big-time 2020 NFL draft prospect. He is a fantastic big-play weapon who can impact a game in a variety of ways.
Lamb’s body control and ability to win contested-catch situations immediately stands out on tape. He is an absolute wizard in the air, going keeping his body under control at times and always understanding where he is on the field. Lamb tracks the ball in the air extremely well and always gets his body in a position to catch the ball and shield the defender.
Lamb is also an impressive run after catch receiver who shows big-time upside with the ball in his hands. He is not the fastest receiver in the 2020 NFL draft class, but he is quick and decisive with his cuts. Lamb is extremely elusive in the open field and even has a bit of power at the point of attack. His contact balance is awfully impressive for the wide receiver position.
The wide receiver position stands out as an obvious need for the Jacksonville Jaguars. D.J. Chark has been great this season, but the Jags need to find a true number one receiver for Gardner Minshew to work with. They could certainly consider Jeudy here, but Lamb is arguably even better.
