Scouting Report. Ohio State. 44. Pick Analysis. CB. Jeffrey Okudah. 5. player

With Chase Young off of the ball, Ohio State cornerback Jeffrey Okudah stands out as the obvious choice for the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta has a clear need at the cornerback position and Okudah is easily the best cornerback prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Okudah has a legitimately elite combination of size, length and athleticism that makes him an exciting player to build around on the defensive side of the ball. In today’s NFL, there may not be anything as important as having a true shut-down cornerback on one side of the field. Okudah undoubtedly has the skill-set to become that guy.

He is a fantastic man-to-man corner who is extremely smooth in coverage. Okudah changes directions well and closes on the receiver quickly. His length and athleticism allow him to win many jump ball situations and he has the speed to keep pace in the deep passing game.

There were concerns about Okudah’s ball skills going into this season, but he has quieted those doubters. Okudah goes up and attacks the ball as well as anybody in the 2020 NFL draft class and has a knack for creating turnovers. Simply put, Okudah has a chance to quickly become one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL.

This has been such a disappointing season for the Atlanta Falcons, but getting in position to land Okudah could make the pain worth it. Okudah is a truly special player who fills one of the most important positions in the modern NFL. Snagging him at number five overall could legitimately end up being a major steal.
