2020 NFL Draft: Jerry Jeudy slides in this three-round NFL mock draft
An extremely tough decision for the Washington Redskins here, as they go on the clock with the third overall pick of this 2020 NFL Draft. They could go with an elite cornerback prospect like Jeffrey Okudah or a playmaker at wide receiver like Jerry Jeudy or CeeDee Lamb, but offensive tackle is almost a desperate need for this team and it is a position that they simply cannot ignore.
Trent Williams is not going to be on this team going forward. That is simply a relationship that is not going to be repaired. With that in mind, the Redskins need to immediately find a left tackle to protect franchise quarterback Dwayne Haskins. In order for Haskins to reach his full upside, Washinton needs to get him a proper blindside protector.
Andrew Thomas is considered by most to be the top offensive lineman in the 2020 NFL draft class and would be an ideal choice for the Redskins here. Thomas is an extremely big and powerful offensive tackle who clears out rushing lanes with ease on a consistent basis.
He is a power-based player who drives defenders back on impact and has incredibly strong hands. Thomas shows a powerful and accurate punch and tremendous natural grip strength. Simply put, Thomas is the kind of player who can lock on and move nearly anybody.
His mobility is good, but not great. Thomas gets off of the ball quickly, can reach the second level and handles speed around the edge. Power is his game, but he can move a bit too.
The Washington Redskins can’t afford to go into next season without an answer at the left tackle position. Thomas is an impressive 2020 NFL draft prospect who has an exciting upside at the next level and fills a desperate positional need for this team.
