2020 NFL Draft: Jerry Jeudy slides in this three-round NFL mock draft
Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert could end up being the top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He is certainly talented enough to be considered. That being said, there is no way that I would take him over Burrow and if Tua’s health is cleared up, I am not taking Herbert over him either.
When it comes to pure talent, Herbert has it all. He has the best pure arm in the 2020 NFL draft class, showing the ability to hit any throw on a football field. Herbert can sling it deep with the best of ’em and consistently shows the ability to fire it into tight spaces with velocity.
Philip Rivers has taken a significant step back this season, consistently throwing lame duck passes all over the field. Rivers has had a great career with the Chargers, but he is far past his prime and the team needs to consider moving along. With Herbert available here, the Los Angeles Chargers move on from Rivers and select the gunslinger out of Oregon to lead them going forward.
Herbert would have a chance to come in and have immediate success with the Chargers. Their offensive line undoubtedly needs some work, but the Chargers have a ton of weapons on the offensive side of the ball to get excited about. Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler are dynamic playmakers out of the backfield, while Keenan Allen and Mike Williams have a chance to become one of the best wide receiver duos in the NFL.
The Chargers will have to improve their offensive line (more on that later) in order to give Herbert the best chance to succeed. That being said, his raw talent pair with all of these weapons on the Chargers roster is an exciting scenario to consider.
