Dallas Cowboys seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft
Back to the secondary for the Cowboys in the fourth round, as they add cornerback Cameron Dantzler to the mix. Dantzler is an extremely raw defensive back, but his combination of length and athleticism at the cornerback position will make him appealing to the Cowboys.
A strong man coverage player who shows tremendous ball skills, Dantzler is a high upside player who would be a great fit for the Dallas defense. Snagging him in the fourth round would be a major steal for the team.
Interior defensive line is another major need for the Dallas Cowboys and they fail to significantly address it in this mock draft. That being said, it’s never wise to force a need in the draft. Instead, the Cowboys find value late, bringing in NC State defensive tackle Larrell Murchison.
Murchison lacks ideal size and play strength on the inside, but he does have a quick first step and has shown the ability to penetrate the backfield. He is an extremely high motor and mobile player who could have a nice career as an interior rusher.
Dak Prescott is obviously the franchise quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys and nothing is going to change that. However, quarterback is such a valuable position, I like the idea of teams taking flyers at the position late in the draft. In this mock draft, the Cowboys take Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond with their final pick.
Mond is an extremely athletic and mobile quarterback who can create yards with his legs. He also shows great natural arm strength and throws well on the run. That being said, both his decision making and accuracy need work if he is going to be successful at the next level. Regardless, the talent is there. Maybe something clicks for him at the next level and he becomes a valuable piece? You just never know.
