2020 NFL mock draft: Burrow or Young at No. 1? How far does Tua fall?
By Evan Bachman
If this scenario plays out come April, the Giants should be jumping for joy for the opportunity to take Chase Young. The two-game suspension will have no impact on how the NFL views Chase Young. He has the perfect physical profile to be a Hall of Fame level edge defender. His combination of elite size, athleticism and strength is very rare.
Young is leading an absurdly talented Ohio State defense that is 4th in the NCAA in points allowed at 11.8, according to ESPN. Despite missing two games, he is still first in the country in sacks with 16.5, according to ESPN. Had it not been for the suspension Young would probably have had a real chance at winning the Heisman this season.
Young really displayed his dominance in two of the Buckeyes’ biggest games this year against Wisconsin and Penn State. In the Wisconsin game, he had five tackles for loss, four sacks and 2 two forced fumbles. In the Penn State game, he had four tackles for loss, three sacks, and two forced fumbles. These two performances made a case for him to go first overall. He does not go no. 1 in this 2020 NFL mock draft, but he is certainly in the conversation.
This season he has produced a 97.1 pass-rush grade, which broke the previous PFF single-season record. He also had a dominant 29.6% pass-rush win rate, according to PFF.
