New York Jets 2020 NFL Draft: 7-round mock draft
As part of the compensation from the Leonard Williams trade with the New York Giants, the Jets have two third-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft. With their first third-round selection, the Jets find Darnold an interesting pass-catcher to work with.
Brandon Aiyuk has emerged as a fantastic 2020 NFL draft prospect this season. Through 12 games, Aiyuk has hauled in 65 receptions for 1,192 yards and eight touchdowns. He is a quick and athletic receiver who shown impressive big-play ability.
Aiyuk has legitimate deep speed and a knack for creating separation. He is quick in-and-out of his cuts and is explosive with the ball in his hands. Aiyuk also does a great job of battling for the ball in the air. Simply put, he is a gifted wide receiver who would become an important offensive weapon for the New York Jets.
The New York Jets addressed the offensive line earlier in this 2020 NFL draft scenario, but they still have plenty of work to do. With this third-round selection, the Jets continue to load up on the offensive line, bringing in Oregon offensive tackle Calvin Throckmorton.
Throckmorton is a smart and strong offensive lineman who consistently takes care of his blocks at the first level. He also anchors extremely well in pass protection. When Throckmorton engages, he takes care of business.
That being said, he does lack the ideal athleticism and length to play tackle at the next level. A move inside may be best for Throckmorton, but the Jets have interior offensive line needs as well. No matter where he ends up playing, Throckmorton is a rock-solid offensive lineman who should be able to hold his own at the next level. The Jets find some quality offensive line depth here.
