Jeffrey Okudah. 5. player. 45. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Ohio State. Cornerback

How did the Broncos win the Super Bowl in 2015/16? On the back of an elite defense. A defense with Von Miller and Demarcus Ware rushing the passer and near-prime Aqib Talib and Chris Harris shutting down receivers on the outside.

Miller is still with Denver and is now paired with young phenom Bradley Chubb, but Talib is long gone and Harris may be out the door this offseason as well, leaving a glaring hole at corner for the Broncos. The best cornerback in the 2020 NFL Draft? Jeffrey Okudah.

Ohio State has allowed the fewest points on defense to this point on the year. While a lot of that has to do with Chase Young and their ferocious front, Okudah and the secondary have been locking down opposing receivers all season long.

Okudah is a long and athletic corner that can stay glued to receivers in man coverage and has great ball instincts when dropping back in zone coverage as well. He has fluid hips, good speed and solid ball skills to break up any pass thrown in his direction. Okudah has three interceptions and six pass breakups this season and often shuts down the opposing team’s best receiver.

The Broncos are probably happy with how the draft played out a couple of years ago with the Browns taking a different top-five cornerback prospect out of Ohio State in Denzel Ward a spot ahead of them, leaving Bradley Chubb on the board at five. Chubb, Miller and now Okudah? Vic Fangio would be smiling.
