Previewing the NFC South matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons on Thanksgiving night.

As your Thanksgiving Day winds down, sit back and enjoy some more NFL football. In the third and final Thanksgiving Day NFL game, the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints will face off in an interesting NFC South matchup. The 3-8 Falcons are the home team in this game but are major underdogs against the 9-2 Saints.

These two teams played just three weeks ago in New Orleans, and the Falcons came away with a shocking upset. Atlanta dominated throughout that game, keeping Drew Brees and company in check. Their 26-9 victory was a huge bright spot in an otherwise forgettable season for the Atlanta Falcons.

Since that loss to the Falcons, the New Orleans Saints have gotten back on track in recent weeks. Two weeks ago, Brees and the Saints took down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 34-17. Last week, they beat the Carolina Panthers 34-31. The Falcons defense sure had the Saints number a few weeks ago, but they have been nearly unstoppable the last couple of weeks.

Expect superstar wide receiver Michael Thomas to get involved in this one early and often. The Falcons secondary has been far from impressive this season. Thomas should be able to come in and eat.

It is hard to imagine the New Orleans Saints losing to the Atlanta Falcons twice in such a short span. They are clearly the more talented team and should be able to come in and take care of business.

That being said, the Falcons are still a talented team that seemed to have the Saints’ numbers a few weeks ago. It is certainly possible that the Falcons are just a tough matchup for New Orleans and they take care of business again. Regardless, this should be a fun Thanksgiving evening matchup between two teams that know each other well.
