Previewing the Thanksgiving Day matchup between the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions.

For everything that we have to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, this game may not be one of them. To kick of the 2019 Thanksgiving Day slate of NFL games, the Detroit Lions will play host to the Chicago Bears. These are two teams that are going nowhere fast and with quarterback Matthew Stafford continuing to miss time, we will be watching a quarterback matchup between Mitchell Trubisky and David Blough in this one. Yikes.

While neither team is having as strong of a season as they wanted, this is still a historic NFC North rivalry and both teams will be fighting hard for a victory. This will likely be an ugly game, but it will be hard-fought.

The most interesting specific matchup that I am excited to see will take place when the Chicago Bears have the ball. Despite horrific quarterback play, Allen Robinson has been good this season, piling up 63 receptions for 764 yards and four touchdowns. If the Bears are going to have any offensive success in this game, Robinson will likely be a major reason why.

That being said, the Detroit Lions are going to attack him with everything that they can. Most likely, the Lions will have star cornerback Darius Slay follow Robinson throughout the game. Slay did a solid job on Robinson earlier this season, but he was still able to produce for the Bears, finishing with six receptions for 86 yards in a Week 10 victory over the Lions.

In a game that will likely be a bit of a slog, this matchup between Robinson and Slay should be extremely interesting to watch.
