2020 NFL Draft: Thanksgiving Day first-round 2020 NFL mock draft
19. Tennessee Titans: Julian Okwara, Edge, Notre Dame
The Tennessee Titans have had a fascinating 2019 season, as they have decided to call it quits with former second overall pick Marcus Mariota and have resurrected the career of Ryan Tannehill in the process.
They are now in the AFC playoff hunt and it’s not a foregone conclusion anymore that they have to go with a quarterback with their first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Seeing as how the top quarterback prospects are off the board, Tannehill gives the Titans the luxury of not having to force a QB here and instead, they add some edge-rushing talent to their defense with Notre Dame’s Julian Okwara with the 19th overall pick.
The Titans only have one pass rusher with four or more sacks on the season and Cameron Wake is about to turn 38 years old, so Tennessee could use a guy like Okwara to add some young talent to pair with Harold Landry.
Okwara has been a force for the Fighting Irish the last two seasons and has used his length, flexibility and explosiveness to get to the quarterback 15.5 times in his career.
While he has the versatility to play in any system, he’s used to playing standing up off the edge and would fit perfectly in the Titans 3-4 scheme.
