17. Oakland Raiders: Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU

It seems like everybody wants one of the Raiders first-round picks to be wide receiver Henry Ruggs III out of Alabama but they just have too many issues to address on the defense to pass on some of the talent on the board.

So after going with Isaiah Simmons with the 14th pick, the Oakland Raiders add some talent to their struggling defensive back group by taking LSU’s Kristian Fulton with the 17th pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Fulton has been stout in coverage in 2019 and has all of the physical traits you look for when scouting a potential CB1. He has ideal size, long speed and is a natural athlete in coverage. Fulton is just as fluid in press coverage as he is in zone and while he doesn’t have a ton of interceptions in his time with the Tigers, he has shown plenty in terms of ball skills.

Nobody has allowed more big plays in the NFL than the Raiders this season, as they have given up 55 plays of over 20 yards in 2019.

Plugging Fulton into the mix would be an immediate help and could give them an exciting young tandem with he and 2019 second-round pick, Trayvon Mullen.
