Improving the Los Angeles Chargers with a complete seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft.

After their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last week, the Los Angeles Chargers sit at 4-7 on the season. While it is technically possible for them to make the postseason in a weak AFC, it is incredibly unlikely. The Chargers would likely have to run the table in order to make the playoff and that may not even be enough.

The Chargers are a talented team with impact players on both sides of the ball. Tough injuries, worn down players and some bad luck have killed them this season. However, with a strong offseason, this team could turn their fortunes around quickly.

In this post, we are going to look forward for the Los Angeles Chargers with a complete seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft. Who do they bring into the mix?

Note: This mock draft was completed using The Draft Network’s mock draft simulator.

Round 1, Pick 11: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

Philip Rivers is a Chargers legend who undoubtedly go down as one of the best players in franchise history. That being said, Rivers has not been good this season, turning the ball over far too many times. It is at least possible that Rivers will not be back with the Los Angeles Chargers for the 2020 season.

When Los Angeles brings back Rivers or not, they need to find a way to acquire a long-term solution at the quarterback position. With Oregon’s Justin Herbert on the board here, they snag their franchise quarterback in this mock draft.

Herbert may be the most naturally gifted quarterback in the 2020 NFL draft class. He has fantastic natural arm talent that allows him to make any throw on the field. Herbert can hit deep receivers in stride and does a great job of fitting the ball in tight windows with velocity when needed.

Herbert is also a relatively athletic signal-caller who escapes pressure well and does a great job of maintaining his accuracy while throwing on the run. Herbert is a bit rough around the edges, but he is a talented player who could come in and make an immediate impact for the Los Angeles Chargers. In this mock draft, they find their franchise quarterback right away.
