The Cincinnati Bengals have seen enough to the rookie, they are turning back to veteran quarterback Andy Dalton.

On Monday, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor announced that the team would be making another change at the quarterback position. Rookie Ryan Finley is out and veteran Andy Dalton is back in.

In his three games as the Bengals starting quarterback, Finley completed only 47 percent of his passes for 474 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He looked completely overwhelmed out there and showed little promise as an NFL quarterback going forward. The Cincinnati Bengals clearly still need to find their quarterback of the future.

For now, they are going back to ole reliable. The Bengals are never going to be a legitimate contender with Dalton under center, but at least he can give them competent play at the position. At 0-11, not much matters for the Bengals other than 2020 NFL draft positioning.

Right now, the Bengals are the clear leaders for the top overall pick, with no other team in the NFL having fewer than two loses. Even if Dalton comes in and leads the Bengals to a victory, they are not going to let go of that top spot.

If Dalton comes back and plays well, it will be interesting to see what kind of decision the Bengals will have to make over the offseason. He is under contract with the team through the 2020 season, but with no dead cap money on the deal, they could easily move on from him if they wish.

The Bengals will undoubtedly be in the quarterback market in the 2020 NFL Draft. Taking Joe Burrow or Justin Herbert at number one would certainly make some sense. That being said, I believe that there is a world where Ohio State defensive end Chase Young is simply too good of a player for the Bengals to pass up. If they take Young, the Bengals could easily look to keep Dalton as their starting quarterback in 2020 and perhaps beyond.

All of those decisions will come later. For now, the Cincinnati Bengals are going back to who they know best.
