Colts vs. Texans: TNF Game preview, TV info, live stream, more
How to watch the Thursday Night Football matchup between the Colts and Texans.
The Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans will face off on Thursday Night Football this week in a battle for the top of the AFC South. With both teams at 6-4 on the year, the winner of this game will leave as the leader in the division. With their 30-23 victory over the Texans in October, the Colts currently sit in the driver’s seat in the division. However, that could quickly change on Thursday night.
The Colts are dealing with many injuries coming into this game, most notably running back Marlon Mack and wide receiver T.Y. Hilton. Mack has already been ruled out and losing him could significantly hurt the Colts’ ability to move the ball on the ground. That being said, their elite-level offensive line is still intact and they should be able to consistently open up holes against this Texans defense.
With Mack sidelined, the Colts will turn to some sort of combination of Jonathan Williams, Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins in the backfield. Considering they still have their impressive offensive line opening up holes, I expect this trio of backs to be good enough to keep the rushing attack afloat.
While he will be a game-time decision, T.Y. Hilton does appear to be on track to play in this game. That would be great news for the Colts as Hilton has consistently abused the Texans’ defense over the years. Houston has struggled to stop opposing passing attacks all season long and Hilton always dominates against the Texans. Assuming he plays, expect a big game out of Hilton.
For the Texans, it comes down to the play of quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson is one of the most dynamic players in the entire NFL and he typically dominates at home. The Colts have a strong defensive unit, but Watson and company should be ready to thrive in this one.
Watson was not good against the Baltimore Ravens last week, struggling to get the ball out quickly throughout the game. The Ravens harassed Watson throughout that game and he seemed to be completely overwhelmed. The Colts have a good defense, but the Ravens look like world-beaters right now. Watson at home against the Colts should be much better than he was last week.
