2020 NFL Draft: Where does injury leave Tua Tagovailoa in QB rankings?
By Ian Higgins
Jalen Hurts, Oklahoma
How the tables have turned.
Not so long ago, Jalen Hurts was the Alabama quarterback with the spotlight and NFL ambitions. Tagovailos eventually took his job, and now Hurts finds himself at Oklahoma with a revived college career and a legitimate chance at NFL success.
Hurts has demonstrated a playstyle that has been heavily compared to current NFL MVP favorite Lamar Jackson, and teams will now be looking at this as a positive. Baltimore has revolutionized running the ball and Hurts is the next prospect in line to serve at QB1 as well as RB2.
Hurts’ running style draws comparisons to a smaller Cam Newton, and when dropping back to pass he can be giddy to escape the pocket and run. His delivery is by no means poor, but Hurts’ mechanics could be polished and made into a better final product.
If Hurts can learn to maneuver the pocket instead of immediately flee, he could produce significantly through both the air and ground similarly to another young quarterback who began with the same tendencies (it’s Lamar Jackson).

Team fit: Miami Dolphins
The NFL is a copycat league, and the Ravens have just found the newest offensive template. A mobile quarterback to lead a spread-power offense. Hurts’ stock is rising with the success of Lamar Jackson, and Miami has no direction with their roster at this point. Through the next 2 offseasons, Miami has the draft capital to completely revamp their offense into Hurts’ image, and attract free agents with a new offensive identity.
