Scouting Report. Ohio State. Chase Young. 3. 58. Pick Analysis. EDGE. player

Make no mistake about it, Chase Young is the most talented player in the 2020 NFL draft class. He is certainly a threat to go first overall, but the value of the quarterback position drives him down the board a bit in this mock draft.

This works out well for the Washington Redskins who land the best player in the draft class with the third overall pick. With Dwayne Haskins on the roster, Washington does not need a quarterback. Simply taking Young to lead their defense going forward is the right pick, no matter who ends up coaching this team.

Young is an absolute freak on the edge, showing an explosive first step, ridiculous upfield burst and an ability to close on the quarterback quickly. He has a tremendous combination of power and athleticism that allows him to create pressure with speed and bend around the edge and also dominate in bull rush situations.

Young is best known for his ability to rush the passer, as his NCAA-leading 13.5 sacks this season shows. That being said, do not sleep on his skills as a run defender. Young is a disciplined player against the run, consistently setting the edge well and taking care of his responsibilities. He also shows plenty of ability to penetrate through the offensive line and make plays against the run in the backfield.

Simply put, Chase Young is a superstar defender in the making. Edge rusher is not the most desperate need for this team, but Young is simply too good of a player for this team to pass up.
