2019 NFL trade deadline retrospective: Win-now vs. rebuild

Quandre Diggs to the Seattle Seahawks
Detroit receives: 2020 5th round pick
Seattle receives: Quandre Diggs & 2021 7th round pick
Seattle has lacked a serious playmaker on the back-end since the departure of Earl Thomas.
Quandre Diggs can hopefully make the difference for this defense. Seattle has been attempting to revive their “Legion of Boom” identity since their iconic play call in Super Bowl 49, but have been unsuccessful. This team needs to acknowledge their identity now revolves around Russell Wilson, and need to compliment him with a defense that can play complementary football.
Detroit currently sits at a 3-3-1 record, which could be much improved without the poor performance of NFL officiating.
Diggs has been a valuable asset on the back-end, but not good enough to stay off the trade block. Darius Slay is the heart of Detroit’s secondary, making Diggs expendable in their man-to-man coverage system. Detroit looks to reload, not rebuild this offseason. This is only the beginning.
Seattle was able to obtain a possible solution in the deep middle, but still, need more weapons on the defensive side of the ball to compete in a now stacked NFC West. Diggs was only acquired for a trade-down from the 5th to the 7th round, making this a steal for Seattle.
