Scouting Report. Linebacker/Safety. Isaiah Simmons. 50. Pick Analysis. Clemson. 12. player

Boy, would Matt Patricia love to add this guy to his arsenal. Isaiah Simmons is really a unicorn who can do so many different things on the football field. It’s rare that a prospect ranked this high by so many scouts doesn’t have one true position, but Simmons is just so versatile that it doesn’t really matter what you call him.

Simmons uses his speed and instincts to range all over the field to make plays. He is a very smart player who understands where he needs to be, no matter his role in the current play. He is fast enough to chase down ball carriers, quick and agile enough to cover tight ends and receivers man-to-man, and explosive enough to shoot through holes in the line as a blitzer.

Simmons is an aggressive and physical player when taking on ball carriers or blocks. His tenacious mentality never stops, and he always plays to and through the whistle. He could improve in zone coverage if asked to play more safety and could sure up tackling and block-evading techniques if asked to play inside as a backer, but overall, Simmons may be the most interesting player in the 2020 NFL Draft, and I’m sure Matt Patricia would find some creative ways to deploy him.
