2020 NFL Draft: Ranking the top 10 running backs
By Jason Truitt
The most versatile back on this list, Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins could be playing receiver.
He can catch and run routes as good as any proficient slot receiver. Dobbins caught over 20 balls each of in his freshman and sophomore seasons, many from Redskins’ rookie quarterback, Dwayne Haskins.
Dobbins has averaged over five yards a catch throughout his college career. He has natural ball skills and can move laterally in a heartbeat. The Buckeye has only fumbled once in each of his three seasons.
In 2018, he was able to reach over 1,000 yards rushing while splitting almost half his carries with Mike Weber. Even on limitation, he makes the most of his chances, with one of the top yards per carry average in college football at 7.1.
Unfortunately, Dobbins has underperformed tremendously when playing against elite tier schools. Which is why he drops this far among the top ball carriers in the 2020 NFL Draft. He really has shown to be inconsistent.
