The Los Angeles Rams made a big deal for cornerback Jalen Ramsey, but they shouldn’t be done. They need to make a move for Broncos CB Chris Harris Jr.

The Los Angeles Rams recently made a blockbuster trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars for cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Are they done wheeling and dealing before the NFL’s trade deadline?

It’s possible, but should they be done?

Not if you ask me.

The Los Angeles Rams have one of the most balanced teams in the NFL but their defense is certainly not a completed product yet.

Although the Rams have a superstar up front in Aaron Donald and now Jalen Ramsey hopefully shutting down his side of the field, they need to seriously consider making the Denver Broncos an offer for star cornerback Chris Harris Jr.

Draft picks are inconsequential to the Rams at this point. They’re dealing without a first round pick in 2020 and 2021 and they haven’t had one since Jared Goff in 2016 anyway.

Who cares about draft picks right now with this team? They are trying to win now, and the core of the team for the foreseeable future is locked in with new contracts (for the most part).

Harris would likely be more than amenable to re-signing with the Rams after the season, and he’d probably love to play for them now. The Rams’ defensive coordinator is Wade Phillips, whom Harris played for when the Broncos won Super Bowl 50.

And every Broncos player on that defense absolutely adores Wade Phillips.

Adding Harris would also give the Rams the best pair of cornerbacks in the NFL from a versatility standpoint. Not only are Harris and Jalen Ramsey able to lock down their side of the field, but both can play in the box and hit, Harris can play the slot, and both are tremendous in a variety of coverages.

Imagine trying to throw the ball on Jalen Ramsey and Chris Harris Jr.

There’s no doubt the Rams have limited draft assets, but they are trying to win a title and they play in a tough division in a tough conference where they are going to need every edge they can get. While draft picks can sometimes turn into great players, this team has enough ‘hits’ in the draft on their roster that they can afford to make bold moves like this and diminish future draft capital in doing so.

Chris Harris Jr. would be another instant impact player for the Rams’ defense and would make them even stronger title contenders than they already are.
