Second Round

The Jets have Kelvin Beachum at the left tackle position and they drafted Chuma Edoga out of USC to perhaps be a future replacement option there, but the tackle position desperately needs to be addressed in this draft class.

In particular, I like Lucas Niang as an early day two option for the Jets because he’s got ideal size for the NFL, he’s athletic, he’s long-limbed, he’s strong, and he can probably play right away.

The major concern with him right now is he is playing through injury, and NFL teams are obviously going to want to look into that as he transitions to the next level.

He’s currently playing right tackle for the Horned Frogs, but Niang has the athletic upside to match rushers from either side of the field. He didn’t allow a single sack in the 2018 season.

The Jets need to make sure Sam Darnold has time in the pocket and guys who can create lanes in the running game, and Niang certainly fits that profile.
