2020 NFL Draft: Two-round mock draft featuring Joe Burrow going No. 2
Offensive tackle continues to be a major area of concern for the Cleveland Browns. They have not protected Baker Mayfield well this season and it is a major reason for their disappointing start to the year. The Browns are picking higher in this mock draft than any of us expected them to, but the disappointment allows them to land an extremely talented offensive tackle who could help take their offensive line to the next level.
Tristan Wirfs is an absolute freak up front. He has an incredible combination of raw power and athleticism that makes him a tempting player for any team that will be picking in the top ten of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Wirfs is a fantastic run blocker who uses his quick feet to get in a strong position and absolutely dominates at the point of attack. Once engaged, Wirfs does a fantastic job of steering the defenders where he wants and driving them away from the ball carrier. He is also a tough and physical player who always looks to drive the defender to the ground and make him look foolish.
He also moves his feet well in pass protection, getting off of the ball quickly and mirroring outside rushers at an extremely high level. Wirfs also protects against inside moves extremely well, shows great on-field awareness and can anchor at a high level.
Wirfs has primarily played right tackle in college, but had to fill in at left tackle for a few games this season due to an injury suffered by teammate Alaric Jackson. He proved to be just as dominant on the left side as he is on the right in those games. If the Browns, or any other team, want to draft him as a left tackle, Wirfs can undoubtedly handle the responsibilities.
