2020 NFL Draft: Two-round mock draft featuring Joe Burrow going No. 2
After snagging a franchise quarterback with the first overall pick of this mock draft (Tagovailoa), the Bengals find him a talented receiver to work with to kick off the second round. Laviska Shenault Jr. is an incredibly talented and versatile wide receiver who has big-time upside at the next level.
He has an impressive combination of power and athleticism that allows him to win many contested-catch situations. Shenault is also an impressive playmaker with the ball in his hands. Whether A.J. Green returns to the Bengals or not, Shenault would be a fantastic addition to their offense.
The Miami Dolphins rebuild through the 2020 NFL Draft continues here with the selection of Oklahoma center Creed Humphrey here in the second round. Humphrey is an extremely smart, physical and powerful offensive lineman who can dominate at the point of attack. He also moves well in space and anchors in pass protection at a high level.
Add Humphrey to the mix up front along with Leatherwood, who they drafted earlier, and the Dolphins are well on their way to fixing their offensive line issues. If nothing else, their new franchise quarterback (in this mock, Burrow), would get protected much better than he would have been before.
This one was tough. Jacoby Brissett has played well for the Indianapolis Colts this season, but if we are being honest, he is unlikely to lead this team to the promised land. I would not say that the Colts should go looking for a new franchise quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft, but if the right opportunity came along, they would be crazy not to consider the position.
In the early second round of this mock draft, that opportunity presented itself as the Colts find themselves in a position to take Utah State quarterback Jordan Love.
Love is an extremely raw and underdeveloped player, but he is an incredibly talented player who has a high ceiling at the next level. Love is a mobile quarterback prospect who has a big arm and throws well on the run. He needs some work, but Love is undoubtedly worth the investment of an early second-round pick. I like the idea of the Colts taking a shot at some quarterback upside in this range of the 2020 NFL Draft.
