Round 3, Pick 72: Cole Van Lanen, OT, Wisconsin

The Jacksonville Jaguars have heavily invested in their offensive line in recent drafts, taking both of their current starting tackles with top 35 picks in 2017 and 2019.

While both aren’t in jeopardy of losing their jobs, it would be wise to add some depth behind them in the form of Cole Van Lanen out of Wisconsin.

Van Lanen is an experienced tackle at perhaps the most prestigious school there is when it comes to producing offensive lineman in the NFL. He’s played in every game since redshirting his freshman year with the Badgers and is the team’s current starter at left tackle.

He is one of the main components on one of the top teams in the country in rushing, and we know the Jaguars put a heavy emphasis on doing just that.

His strength and finishing ability are what really jump out when you see him pave the way for Jonathan Taylor.

Van Lanen could be a swing tackle for Jacksonville that could give them the depth they could really use, especially when you take into account the injury history of Cam Robinson.

It may not be an immediate need, but this would be a smart move that makes this the right pick for me in this Jacksonville Jaguars 2020 mock draft.
