XFL Draft: Most interesting players in the XFL draft pool
Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU
Zach Mettenberger had a nice college career at LSU. He was a big-armed quarterback who could hit any throw on the football field but struggled with accuracy at times. Mettenberger was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He stuck around in the league for a few years as a backup but has not been on an NFL roster since 2017.
Christine Michael, RB, Texas A&M
If you have ever played dynasty fantasy football, you know exactly who Christine Michael is. Michael is a running back who entered the league with massive upside. The dynasty community drooled over his potential, but he was never able to reach his ceiling.

Michael did have some productive moments, most notably during 2015 and 2016 with the Seattle Seahawks, but he was never able to put it all together on a consistent basis. Michael is a talented player who could tear up the XFL if he is still in proper shape.
Nick Novak, K, Maryland
I cannot say that I have too much interest in 38-year-old XFL kickers, but Nick Novak is one of the most recognizable names in the XFL draft pool. Novak has bounced around the NFL a ton but has had a nice career in the league. He has attempted 222 field goals in the NFL and made 182 for a solid success rate of 82 percent.
Ronald Ollie, DT, Nicholls State
Last Chance U star Ronald Ollie started the 2019 training camp with the Oakland Raiders. Ollie did not stick around long and is unlikely to get much of an NFL opportunity again. Will Ollie show enough to stick around in the XFL? Only time will tell. He is an interesting defensive tackle prospect who can make some plays when he applies himself.
Vinny Papale, WR, Delaware
I am not going to pretend to know anything about the game of Delaware wide receiver Vinny Papale, I just think it is cool that his dad was the guy who tried out for the Philadelphia Eagles and ended up being a pretty good player. You know, the guy who Mark Wahlberg played in that Disney movie.
Donnel Pumphrey, RB, San Diego State
Donnel Pumphrey was absolutely dominant in college at San Diego State. In fact, he left San Diego State as the NCAA Division I FBS all-time leading rusher. Throughout his four years at San Diego State, Pumphrey piled up a ridiculous 6,405 yards and 62 touchdowns on the ground. He also had 99 career receptions for 1,039 yards and five touchdowns.
Obviously, his college success did not translate to the NFL, but Pumphrey is still the all-time leading rusher in Division I college football. He has a chance to dominate the XFL.
