2020 NFL Draft: First-round mock draft includes Joe Burrow in top 12

The Miami Dolphins not only have three first-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, but they also hold two top-five selections in this mock. This pick was acquired by the Dolphins from the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick is a very good football player, but if this picks ends up in the top five, the trade is a win for the Dolphins.

After taking their potential franchise quarterback earlier, the Dolphins get him some protection here with this pick. Andrew Thomas is the best offensive lineman in the 2020 NFL draft class and could come in and immediately take over left tackle duties for the Miami Dolphins.

Thomas has ideal size at the offensive tackle position, using his stout frame and long arms to dominate as a run blocker and pass protector. Thomas gets off of the ball quickly, shows good mobility and is extremely powerful at the point of attack. Once Thomas is engaged with the defender, it is typically game over as he latches on and controls the defender with ease.

Thomas is a good pass protector who can handle speed around the edge and anchors at an extremely high level. He is also a fantastic run blocker who the Dolphins could use to lead their rushing attack for years to come.

Right now, the Dolphins’ offensive line is an absolute mess. They have obvious needs up front that simply must be addressed if they expect to have any offensive success going forward. Thomas does not fix their entire offensive line, but he does fill the void left by Laremy Tunsil at left tackle. With their first two picks, the Dolphins found big-time prospects at arguably the two most important positions in football.
