2020 NFL Draft: Quarterbacks who need big games in Week 7 action
Blame the offensive gameplan from Brian Ferentz, blame the offensive line, or just flat out credit Michigan’s defense — whatever flavor you choose, Nate Stanley did not look good in the Big House against Michigan last weekend.
Like, at all.
Stanley finished 23-of-42 passing with 260 yards, no touchdowns, and three interceptions.
At some point, Stanley has to prove that he’s not going to revert to simply locking onto a read, hanging in the pocket as long as he can, and then trying to just rifle the ball into a spot he probably shouldn’t be trying to put it.
With the pressure he faced against a tough Michigan defensive front combined with some poor decision making, Stanley was either on the ground or throwing the ball to the wrong color jersey most of the day in Ann Arbor.
He needs to bounce back in a big way against a tough Penn State defense at home. This could wind up being a signature moment for Stanley not only for his 2020 NFL Draft prospects, but for his career and legacy with the Hawkeyes.
He needs to prove to scouts that he’s capable of elevating the team around him and not just a guy who plays well when everything else is going well.
