San Francisco 49ers rookie edge rusher Nick Bosa is getting recognized for his stellar play.
Ever since getting drafted second overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, defensive end Nick Bosa has solidified himself as a major asset for the San Fransisco 49ers. After the 49ers were able to successfully pull off a dominating win against the Cleveland Browns last Monday night, Bosa has been nominated for the Rookie of the Week award for his stellar performance during the game.
During the 31-3 victory against the Browns, Bosa had a total of two sacks, three quarterback hits, four quarterback hurries, four total tackles and a forced fumble, which was the first of his NFL career. NFL fans can now vote for the San Francisco 49ers rookie to take home the Week 5 Rookie of the Week award. Get your votes in quickly because polling closes on Friday.
It’s also worth mentioning as well in regard to the quarterback rushes Nick Bosa was able to do throughout the game, as the three quarterback hits reflect on how well he did in terms of pressuring Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Kelana Martin, a senior reporter for 49ers.com, made an interesting note as well. According to Martin, Bosa became the first San Francisco 49ers rookie to have two sacks in a game since DeForest Buckner’s performance against the Buffalo Bills back in 2016. That in of itself highlights Nick Bosa’s success as a rookie thus far during this season.

Monday’s game against the Browns was newsworthy for multiple reasons, other than Nick Bosa being nominated for Rookie of the Week. It’s been well-reported through the NFL media on the whole fiasco between Nick Bosa and Baker Mayfield, with Bosa forcing Mayfield to the ground during one play and proceeded to run down the field pretending to wave a flag. This was in reference to Mayfield planting the Oklahoma flag at Ohio State during a game back in 2017.

“I’m sure my Buckeye fans know a couple of years back Baker planted the flag in the Horseshoe, so I had to get him back for it,” Bosa said in a postgame interview (via CBS Sports).
