2020 NFL Draft: New York Jets seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft
I wanted to find an edge rusher for the New York Jets earlier in this mock draft, but the right opportunity never presented itself. Instead, they take a shot on some upside here in the fifth round.
Alex Highsmith is a quick and athletic edge rusher who plays hard and shows a consistent ability to create pressure on the passer. Highsmith gets off of the ball extremely quickly and has enough flexibility to bend around the edge. He also shows an impressive inside move that can catch offensive tackle off guard. All in all, he is an interesting prospect at an important position of need. Why not take a shot at some upside?
Tommy Kraemer is not the most fleet of foot, but he is a tough and physical blocker who makes the most out of what he has. Kraemer is a hard-nosed offensive lineman who excels as an interior run blocker. He can also hold his own against power in pass protection on the inside. Kraemer is a good, solid player who could grow into a dependable guard for the New York Jets. Not bad in the sixth round.
Jeff Thomas is an explosive wide receiver prospect who could quickly rise up boards later in the 2020 NFL draft process. Thomas has obvious speed and quickness which he uses to separate well against man coverage. His hands are also impressive, as Thomas does a nice job of coming down with balls in traffic and high-pointing the ball at its highest level.
He is the kind of guy who is going to test well at the combine and undoubtedly has some upside at the next level. If Thomas can learn to put it all together on a more consistent basis, the sky is the limit. The Jets take a shot on his physical skill-set to cap off this mock draft.
