Cincinnati Bengals 2020 NFL Draft: Complete 7-round NFL mock draft
Getting 2019 first-round pick, Jonah Williams, back from injury next year will certainly help, but the Cincinnati Bengals still have improvements to make on the offensive line. In the third round of this mock draft, the Bengals add some much-needed offensive line talent by snagging Alabama offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood.
Leatherwood had a lot of success as Alabama’s right guard last season, but after Williams made the move to the NFL, Leatherwood took over as the left tackle this season. Leatherwood has continued to play at a high level at left tackle and undoubtedly has a bright future at the next level.
Leatherwood has fantastic natural athleticism that immediately stands out on tape. He does a fantastic job of reaching the second-level in the run game and shows a great natural ability to mirror defenders in pass protection.
On top of that, Leatherwood is quick off of the ball and shows great natural strength and power once engaged. He is explosive at the point of attack and shows the ability to steer and drive defenders as a run blocker.
Leatherwood is a bit of a work in progress. His pad level is inconsistent and his overall hand usage is lacking. However, the physical traits are there for him to be an absolute stud offensive lineman at the next level. If he can clean up his game a bit, Leatherwood would be a fantastic pick for the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2020 NFL Draft.
