The Washington Redskins are struggling, but that doesn’t mean rookie QB Dwayne Haskins is going to have false rumors being spread.

The Washington Redskins are a mess to start the 2019 season at 0-3.

Jay Gruden’s job is hanging in the balance, and the team is seemingly clinging to the hope that Case Keenum can be their starting quarterback for the time being.

Keenum just threw three interceptions, fumbled three times, and was sacked four times on Monday Night Football against the Chicago Bears, and despite his poor play in that game, the Redskins are not replacing him with rookie first-round pick Dwayne Haskins.

The Redskins sat back in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft and got the player many feel is the best quarterback in the class in Haskins at pick 15 overall.

Haskins showed flashes of brilliance in preseason play but also looked like a rookie.

Despite Keenum’s struggles, the team is sticking with the veteran over the rookie.

Joel Klatt of FOX Sports relayed information he was given that the reason Haskins wasn’t playing is because the coaching staff never wanted him and the front office did.

To clear it all up, Haskins himself weighed in.

Haskins needed only two words to debunk this rumor, although it’s not the first we’ve seen it floating around.

It makes some sense for the Redskins to try to see if Keenum can be the guy before really declaring the season a loss by putting Haskins in, but ultimately, the only way Jay Gruden is keeping his job (unless his departure is a foregone conclusion at this point) is if Haskins goes out there and plays well, showing signs of life for this franchise.

Although Haskins is saying this report by Klatt is false news, the longer he doesn’t play behind Case Keenum, the more validity it seems to have. Haskins may not be ready yet, but are the Redskins getting him ready?

Are they taking the necessary steps to make sure they get an honest evaluation of him this year? If that’s not the case, it’s possible Klatt’s report is valid and true. In which case, Jay Gruden’s days are numbered in Washington.
