Dolphins 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: Building around new franchise QB
Round 6, 161st Overall: Shane Lemieux, OL, Oregon
The Dolphins have aggressively attacked their offensive tackle situation in this mock draft, but they still undoubtedly need help on the interior of their offensive line. With one of their final picks, Miami addresses the interior with the selection of Oregon offensive guard Shane Lemieux.
Lemieux is an extremely mobile offensive lineman who consistently reaches the second level in the run game with success. He is also a solid pass protector who does a great job of looking for and finding work at all times. Lemieux is a good offensive line prospect who could be a nice value this late in the draft.
Round 6, 181st Overall: Tino Ellis, CB, Maryland
Tino Ellis is a long and athletic cornerback prospect who has some nice upside at the next level. He is a sticky man-to-man defender who also shows solid ball skills. Ellis has some sloppy technique and struggles when asked to press, but he is a talented player who could grow into a real defensive asset. he is the perfect kind of player for a rebuilding team like the Dolphins to take a chance on and give an opportunity to grow.
Round 7, 193rd Overall: Tarik Black, WR, Michigan
Tarik Black has the size and athleticism to make an impact as a wide receiver at the next level. He tracks the ball in the air well has some nice contested-catch ability. Injuries have consistently held him back in college, but if Black can stay on the field, he undoubtedly has the skill-set to be a playmaker in the NFL.
Round 7, 224th Overall: Marcel Spears Jr, LB, Iowa State
With their final pick, the Miami Dolphins select Iowa State linebacker Marcel Spears Jr. Spears is certainly undersized for an NFL linebacker, but he is a quick and athletic prospect who plays well in space. Spears can defend sideline-to-sideline against the run, is strong in coverage and can create some pressure on the passer as a blitzer. If his lack of size is too big of an issue to overcome on defense, Spears should be able to be a nice special teams contributor at the next level.
