5. Levonta Taylor, CB, Florida State

Levonta Taylor is a former highly-ranked recruit who has not really lived up to the hype in college. Taylor is a quick cornerback who shows impressive natural coverage skills, but his lack of size and play strength does get him in trouble at times.

Taylor will struggle against size at the next level, but he is a gifted cover corner who will thrive against certain players. If the Panthers can be disciplined enough to use him against smaller speed receiver, primarily out of the slot, this could be a massive steal for the team at an important defensive position.

6. Jon Runyan Jr., OL, Michigan

The Carolina Panthers finally go back to the offensive side of the ball late in this mock draft, adding Michigan offensive lineman Jon Runyan Jr. to the mix. Runyan has been good for the Wolverines at the left tackle position, showing quick feet and impressive overall ability in pass protection.

Runyan’s ability to protect the quarterback makes him a great fit for the modern NFL, but he needs to get stronger at the point of attack if he is going to transition well to the next level. If Runyan can add some more bulk, he could quickly become a reliable NFL offensive lineman and a massive steal in this range.

7. Emeka Emezie, WR, NC State

With their seventh and final selection of this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Carolina Panthers add another big athlete at the wide receiver position. Emeka Emezie is an extremely competitive player who uses his size well to battle for the ball in the air. He is not the fastest or most athletic receiver, but he is a strong player who consistently wins contested-catch situations and can make some plays after the catch.
