Baltimore Ravens rookie wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is going off early in his first NFL game.

Welcome to the Hollywood era in Baltimore. The Baltimore Ravens taking Marquise Brown as the first wide receiver off of the board in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft was a controversial pick. Brown is an extremely small receiver who has major injury concerns, but the Ravens saw him as a perfect fit for their offense. So far, they appear to be perfectly correct in their assessment.

Brown is an elite athlete at the wide receiver position who shows incredible natural speed and athleticism at all times. It did not take long for Brown to show off his impressive skill-set in the Ravens’ opening game against the Miami Dolphins. At the time this post is being written, Brown has already piled up three receptions for 144 yards and two touchdowns.

On the Ravens’ second drive of the season, quarterback Lamar Jackson hit Brown short and let his rookie wide receiver do the rest. Just look at his dynamic big-play ability.

That was obviously an impressive play, but do not discount Brown as just a catch-and-run receiver. This guy is a tremendous deep receiver as well. His second touchdown of the day proved that.

Now, the Dolphins will probably be the worst team in the NFL this season, so let’s not get carried away about this performance against them. That being said, it is impossible to not be excited about what Hollywood is doing on the field for the Baltimore Ravens. He is the kind of receiver who can single-handily open up an offensive attack.

The Ravens are going to be a run-heavy team this season and if Brown can continue to be this kind of dynamic big-play threat, they are going to be a ridiculously difficult team to stop this season.
