Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles were probably the team that was linked to Antonio Brown the most, aside from the Raiders, in trade talks this Spring. In the phone conversation between Brown and Rosenhaus that was made public from before his trade to the Raiders, Brown seemed to be most interested in the Eagles.

First-round picks were brought up in that conversation and clearly, that is not what was being discussed amongst the teams involved in trade talks. But now that he will not cost any sort of draft compensation, any interested team can make Brown an offer. And with all that’s gone on, the offer probably won’t need to be that high.

That being said, the question is whether the Eagles are still interested in Brown at all at this point. After missing out on Brown in March, Philly made a move to re-acquire longtime Eagle DeSean Jackson and gave him a new three-year contract.

The Eagles currently have three solid receivers in Jackson, Alshon Jeffery, and Nelson Agholor. They also like rookie J.J. Arcega-Whiteside. But GM Howie Roseman is always working the phone lines and trying to find bargain additions to his football team. If the team is still interested in bringing in AB, they likely feel that they have a culture that can handle his personality. If the Eagles land Brown and can get him focused on playing football, they could find themselves hoisting the Lombardi Trophy once again.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are a team that is not afraid of a little controversy. They, like the Raiders, have been known to give a second, or third chance to some players with off-the-field issues and things of that nature. Jerry Jones could be all over this or want nothing to do with it.

The Cowboys have a lot on their plate with the players currently on their roster, trying to extend player after player seeking a new contract. But they have managed to accomplish that task for most of those players, aside from quarterback Dak Prescott and defensive back Byron Jones.

With a player like Brown available, Jones may have to shift his gaze, at least momentarily, and think about what the addition of such a player would mean for his team. Dallas was clearly desperate for talent on the outside of the offense last season, giving up a first-round pick for former Raider Amari Cooper. The move proved to be huge for the ‘Boys, and Cooper earned himself a shiny new contract of his own.

Could Jones find himself looking to bring in another talented former-Raider (a term used loosely for Brown who never played a snap in silver and black)? With the Ezekiel Elliott hold out just ending and Prescott’s contract hanging over their head, Dallas and Jones may not really consider bringing in Brown. But having Cooper and Brown on the outside and Zeke in the backfield, it may not matter who is playing quarterback.

Jones is always looking for talent and has dealt with “diva” receivers in the past (Michael Irvin and Terrell Owens). A focused Brown could launch the Cowboys to the top of the division and should not take too much money away from the other players they are trying to re-sign at this point in his career.
