Melvin Gordon, RB, Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers and Melvin Gordon appear to be on a track headed absolutely nowhere.

Gordon is about to risk forfeiting game checks in order to get an extension. The Chargers are risking a very unhappy star running back.

At the end of the day, business is business, but if the Chargers don’t want to pay Gordon, they might be interested in trading him to someone who will.

What teams might be interested in a trade for Gordon? It’s hard to say because on the surface, it seems like not many teams would be interested in trading for a running back on an expiring contract who wants to be one of the highest paid players at his position in the NFL.

One team uniquely qualified to make this kind of move is the Houston Texans, who recently lost Lamar Miller for the whole 2019 season.

The Texans also just traded what could end up being a third-round pick for Duke Johnson, so how motivated will they be to trade possibly an even higher pick for Gordon?

Another team that could be an interesting fit for Gordon is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Bruce Arians has plenty of intriguing toys in that offense already, but his running back position is weak.
