2020 NFL Draft: Sleeper contenders to be No. 1 overall pick
Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia
Last, but not least, we are going to take a look at Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm. Fromm does not have the physical tools of Tagovailoa, Herbert or even Love, but he is an incredibly reliable player who could put himself in the number one pick conversation with a dominant final season at Georgia.
Fromm is an extremely smart and efficient quarterback who always seems to make the best play on the field. He understands his offense extremely well, has incredible timing with his receivers and knows how to throw them open. On top of that, Fromm runs an NFL style offense at Georgia, which will certainly make him appealing for certain NFL coaches.
Fromm is an accurate passer who knows how to place the ball. He will consistently lead his receivers correctly and knows how to throw them away from contact. He also does a nice job of putting the proper touch on his passes.
The big issue here is Fromm’s lack of physical tools. His overall arm talent is average at best and while he can move around a little bit, Fromm is never going to be mistaken for an elite-level athlete.
Calling him a game manager would be unfair, but Fromm is just a rock-solid player who you know you will be able to count on at the quarterback position. He is a smart and tough player who is never going to lose the game for you. I would never take him first overall, but I could certainly see an NFL team talking themselves into him.
