Ed Reed, Safety, Baltimore Ravens

To many around the game of football, Ed Reed is the greatest free safety of all-time. A true ball-hawk, Reed was the leader of the secondary on on of the best defenses in history.

Reed was drafted by the Ravens in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft and made an immediate impact with five interceptions his rookie season. The very next year Reed earned his first Pro Bowl selection, and his first All-Pro selection the following season.

Reed dominated the NFL in his 11 years as a Raven. He led the league in interceptions in 2004, 2008, and 2010, becoming just the second player in league history two lead the league in picks three separate seasons.

Over the course of his career, Reed collected 64 interceptions (good for 7th of all-time) and seven pick-sixes. Reed also has 6.0 career sacks and 643 combined tackles to his credit.

Reed was the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2004. He made 9 Pro Bowls and 5 All-Pro Teams throughout his career. Reed leads the NFL all-time in the following categories: Most career playoff interceptions (9), most interception return yards (1,590), most multi-interception games (12), most career blocked punts returned for touchdowns (5), and is the only player in NFL history  to return an interception, fumble, punt, and blocked punt for a touchdown.

Ed Reed is a Super Bowl Champion (Super Bowl XLVII) and was an unsung hero on a dominant defense. He was also selected to the All-Decade Team for the 2000’s.
