2019 Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement: Meet the Inductees
Ty Law, Cornerback, New England Patriots / New York Jets / Kansas City Chiefs / Denver Broncos
Ty Law is without a doubt one of the best cover cornerbacks of his generation, and arguably of all-time. Once Law came into the prime of his career, opponents were wise to not even look at his side of the field. And if they decided to not heed to that advice, they paid the price.
Law was selected by the New England Patriots in the first round of the 1995 NFL Draft. Law spent the first 10 years of his career in New England. As a Patriot, Law earned both of his two All-Pro honors (1998 and 2003) as well as four of his five Pro Bowls.
As a Patriot, Law’s teams appeared in four Super Bowls, winning three titles (Super Bowl XXXVI, XXXVIII, and XXXIX). Law scored on a pick-six in the Pats win over the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.
After his tenure in New England, Law played one season with the New York Jets in 2005. This season Law intercepted a career-high 10 passes and made his final career Pro Bowl.
In his career, Law totaled 53 interceptions including seven pick-sixes. He led the NFL in interceptions twice (1998 and 2005) and led his team in interceptions six times. In addition to his two All-Pro and five Pro Bowl selections, Law was also named to the All-Decade Team of the 2000’s.
Law’s friend, Byron Washington, will be presenting him on Saturday night.
